AN IMPORTANT SHAPED AXMINSTER CARPET, the raspberry-red field with a Persian influenced repeating design of palmettes and flowerheads linked by angular light blue and scrolling pink tendrils, in a broad golden yellow border of scrolling leafy and flowerhead vine between light blue meandering flowering vine stripes, a short red kilim strip at each end, original fireplace recess at one end (a few areas of negligible wear, otherwise excellent condition)
