engraving, circa 1590 (?), first state (of six), before any letter, a very fine impression, trimmed just inside the platemark, retaining a fillet of blank paper outside the borderline, a horizontal crease near the lower sheet, the tips of the upper corners made-up, some pale staining and very slight creasing, laid at the reverse sheet edges
