A PAIR OF MEISSEN FIGURES OF RIVER-GODS after the models by J.J.Kändler, the bearded figures with water-weeds in their hair lying with one arm resting on an overtuned urn, scantily clad in an iron-red and turquoise drape, on oval mound bases applied with flowers and leaves, one holding a paddle and a cornocopia full of wheat, a beehive at his feet, the other holding a cornocopia overflowing with corn, fruit, jewels and a teabowl, a further teabowl, saucer and teapot at his feet beside a paddle (the first with restoration to feet, beehive, handle of paddle, wheat and leaves, the second restored through legs, his left arm, base, restoration to cornucopia, fruit, corn, saucer, teapot, flowers and leaves), blue crossed swords marks, circa 1750
