VERDI, Giuseppe (1813-1901). Three autograph letters signed to Giovanni Maloberti, Cremona, 27 April 1868, [Busseto, 6 May 1873], St. Agata, 7 July 1875, concerning Verdi's personal arrangements, instructing Maloberti to recruit coachmen, horses and a cook, but not to send him pictures or talk to him about furniture, 3 pages in all, octavo, 1 autograph envelope
Verdi seems to have used Maloberti, who lived in Piacenza and was probably secretary to the Philharmonic Society there, as a general factotum. The letters to Maloberti are written in an informal manner and give instructions in Verdi's characteristically forthright way.
The letters are published in George Martin, Aspects of Verdi, Ransom Books, 1989, pp.242-3 (3)
