8° (140 x 90 mm.). AUTOGRAPH MANUSCRIPT ON PAPER. 100 leaves (first blank). Humanistic greek script, title in capitals, brown ink, initial-strokes in red. Coloured architectural title-border incorporating two armorial devices, a sword and an olive branch, author's illuminated devices (including anchor-and-snake), monograms and mottoes (Vera manet me salus) throughout, illuminated Greek initials marking the alphabetical divisions. 19th-century red morocco, Gitton du Plessis arms gilt-tooled at foot of spine. Provenance: Matthieu de Reneaulme, the author and the scribe (name, cypher, devices and motto); Paul-Louis de Reneaulme, Marquis de Thorigné (recorded by Moréri); J.A.M. Gitton du Plessis (binding); Illiers family (armorial bookplate).

At least five other autograph manuscript works by this author are recorded, including a description of Swiss mountains (the Reneaulme family had moved to Blois from Switzerland in the 15th century) and a Latin version of Albucasim's treatise on medicine and surgery. This Lexicon of Anacreontic poetry was first described by Louis Moréri, Le Grand Dictionnaire Historique (1759) IX, 132.
