ALCHEMICAL MANUSCRIPT - Question Proemial utrum seu possible el hacer oro o plata de los otros metales por el arte Philichimica? [Spain: early 18th century].
Small 4° (197 x 150 mm.). MANUSCRIPT IN SPANISH, ON PAPER. 332 pages, with modern pagination, written in black and red ink in a cursive bookhand, 7 drawings in ink of alchemical implements pasted in. (Minor worming.) Contemporary blind-tooled leather over paperboards (worn).
AN ORIGINAL ALCHEMICAL WORK, recently discovered and unpublished. It is discussed at length by Manuel Algora Corbi in La Tabla redonda de los Alquimistas, Madrid 1980 pp. 165-167. Described as 'un manuscrito desconocido y conservando en una biblioteca privada', it is a sort of guide to the various ways of approaching alchemy and the spirit of antimony, including the 'Via de Pobre', the way of the poor, where one may pursue alchemy at little expense.
