Contemporary mottled calf gilt (neatly rebacked, old spine laid down). Provenance: C.H.C (contemporary manuscript monogram on title and numerous underlinings); William Charles De Meuron, 7th Earl Fitzwilliam (bookplate).

A FINE COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION IN FRENCH. The first edition (in Latin) was published in Amsterdam in 1644, and an edition with the translation revised by Claude Clerselier was published in Paris in 1681. Tchermerzine IV.p.298; Brunet II.611.
