Three parts in 1 volume only. 4° (235 x 178mm.). Four engraved portraits, four plates (two folding but shaved into plate area at outer margin), one folding map, one engraved illustration, two wood-cut illustrations (some worming or old dampstaining to margins). Contemporary mottled sheep (extremities rubbed, joints slightly split, spine chipped at head and foot). Provenance: William Arthur Cavendish-Bentinck, 6th Duke of Portland (bookplate).

FIRST EDITION IN ENGLISH. Sabin notes that part IV (i.e.vol.II) is 'perhaps more properly part of the second edition', and Wing lists it as a separate work. Wing E-3894; cf.Sabin 23479.
