A COMPOSITE SWISS OR GERMAN HAND-AND-A-HALF SWORD with broad double-edged blade (slight pitting) with wide central fuller on each face of the forte, incised on one face with a running wolf mark, partly brass inlaid, and with ricasso struck twice with a half-moon mark, iron hilt with guard of slender rectangular bars comprising flat sexfoil supporting a half-length symmetrical basket-guard of three bars with central writhen recessed mouldings, horizontally recurved quillons with conical writhen tips, thumb-ring, writhen pommel (probably later), and later wooden grip, early 16th Century
