A GERMAN WHEEL-LOCK HOLSTER PISTOL with two-stage barrel struck on the octagonal breech with barrelsmith's mark and initials CS, the tang numbered 11, plain flat lock (cock, cock-spring and safety-catch later replacements), full stock profusely inlaid with engraved horn pellets and scrolls inhabited by birds, squirrels, male profile heads and amorini, the ball pommel terminating in a horn medallion engraved with a horseman, iron mounts including trigger-guard and belt hook, and later ramrod with engraved horn tip, probably circa 1600
