Manuela Menas pointed out that this is a study for the drapery of the Virgin in Maratta's Saint Peter presenting to the Madonna Saints Luis Beltrani, Rose of Lima, Filippo Beniti, Francesco Borgia and Gaetano Thiene of 1671-2 in Santa Maria sopra Minerva, Rome. The altarpiece was commissioned by Pope Clement X to commemorate the cannonization of all five Saints in 1671
