Prince Jean Adolph Joseph Auguste Frédéric Schwarzenberg, known as Adolph was the eldest son of Joseph Jean Prince de Schwarzenberg, Duc de Kruman and Pauline Charlotte daughter of Duc Louis Englebert
d'Arenberg. He was born on 22 May 1799, married Princess Eleanor of Lichenstein in 1812, and succeeded to his father's title in 1833. Prince Adolph held the post of Chamberlain to the Austrian Empire until his death on 15 September 1888. The Prince's younger brother Felix Louis Jean Frédéric was born on 2 October 1800. He was Captain of the Ulans Schwarzenberg Cavalry. He too was created a chamberlain of the Austrian Empire, and pursued a distinguished diplomatic career working in the Austrian Embassy in London
