These pietra dura panels are inspired by those executed in the Grand Ducal workshops in Florence, such as those in the Grünes Gewölbe, Dresden, depicting parrots in hoops and sitting among foliage (A. González-Palacios, Il Tempio del Gusto, Milan, 1986, pp. 149-150, figs. 270-274).
