ANOTHER, with swamped octagonal sighted barrel rifled with eight grooves and struck at the breech with initials LZ, a serpent between, plain lock with integral wheel-cover pierced with a stylised heart and with engraved cock, walnut full stock with fluted fore-end and stamped behind the barrel tang with the stockmaker's initials AS with crossed keys below (probably for Andreas Schmidt of Regensburg), the butt (wormed, lower edge of cheek-piece incomplete) with horn-lined smoke escape below the lock, and inlaid with staghorn scrolls, pellets and stars, with a hind on the right side and a stag in a landscape on the cheek-piece, and carved in relief opposite the lock with a dog retrieving a duck, and below the lock with a bear carrying a wheel-lock rifle, iron trigger-guard, set trigger, horn patch-box cover engraved with a lion in a landscape (base-plate missing), engraved horn ramrod-pipe and fore-end cap, horn butt-plate numbered 6, and horn-tipped ramrod, circa 1650
