A FINE GERMAN WHEEL-LOCK GUN with octagonal sighted barrel of exceptional length, large flat lock struck with a standing halberdier mark and with engraved flattened spring finials, engraved and dated flat integral wheel-cover, the cock engraved with a monster's head, the pan-cover with a grotesque mask, and the bridle to the cock-spring with foliage (safety-catch mechanism incomplete), full stock profusely inlaid throughout its length with staghorn scrolls, pellets, leaves and ball-flowers inhabited by monsters, birds, putti, an owl and a snail, all between horn lines and borders engraved with ropework and overlapping foliage, engraved and dated horn butt-plate, engraved horn fore-end cap, iron trigger-guard, and original iron-tipped ramrod, dated 1579 and 1590
