1963 DAIMLER V8 250 SALOON
Registration No. XHR 636A
Chassis No. 1A1058BW
Engine No. 7A1247
Right hand drive.
The acquisition of the Daimler Motor Company by Jaguar in 1960 not only saved the future of the famous company, but provided Jaguar with the SP250 Daimler sports car 2½-litre V8 engine. The first direct result of the merger was the launching of the Daimler 2½-litre V8 which in essence was the fitting of the Daimler engine into the Jaguar Mark II saloon. Aesthetically the cars looked identical except the Daimler had the fluted radiator and the interior was of a higher standard. The 140bhp V8 engine was mated to a three-speed Borg Warner automatic gearbox providing 112mph and the general handling was considered superior to the Jaguar and was quieter and more refined.
This 1963 blue Daimler V8 250 is believed to have had only four previous owners and is generally in sound condition both mechanically and bodily, but has a very worn leather interior. Restoration of this car will certainly be a viable proposition.
