Lot Essay

INDENTAnna Maria, Margravine of Brandenburg (1567-1618), daughter of Johann Georg Elector of Brandenburg (1525-98), married in 1581 Barnim XII of Reugenwalde (1549-1603), the younger brother of Johann Friedrich Bishop of Cammin and Duke of Stettin (1569-1600). She became Duchess of Stettin and Pomerania when her husband inherited the Duchy in 1600 and it is possible this gnadenpfennig was cast to celebrate her accession. The medal is unpublished and probably unique
