Lot Essay

INDENTOn 18th August l923 a severe typhoon swept over Hong Kong, during the progress of which H.M. Submarine L9 broke adrift from a buoy to which she was moored. Lieut.Thos.H.Dickson, H.M.S. Titania, jumped on board to try to secure her, but failing, was unable to get back ashore. There was a heavy sea running, and Treagus, an A.B. of H.M.S. Tamar, went overboard from S.S. Ginyo Maru, which was moored to the dockyard wall, taking a line, and after a severe struggle succeeded in reaching Lieut. Dickson; both were then hauled back and hoisted on board.
