INDENTSub-Lieutenant Thomas Humphrey Cobb the "ninth surviving son" of Herbert and Constance Cobb of Mockbeggar, Rochester, became a Midshipman in August 1914 after spending two years at Dartmouth. He was killed in Rear Admiral Hood's flagship H.M.S. Invincible at the Battle of Jutland 31 May 1916. When the 3rd Battle Fleet came into action, Invincible received a number of salvos in quick succession and sank with the loss of 59 officers and 961 ratings. Sub-Lieutenant Cobb is commemorated on Portsmouth Memorial - his only grave is the sea
