INDENT Lieutenant Thomas de Burgh, born 1888, gazetted Second Lieutenant, Indian Army, September 1908; advanced to Lieutenant 1910, and Squadron Officer, Duke of Connaught's Own Lancers, 1914; was killed in action whilst attached to the 5th Royal Irish Lancers during the Battle of Aisne, 15 September 1914. (The singer, Chris de Berg, is a direct descendant of the recipient)
