Lot Essay

This oval medallion pier-glass with ribbon-twist border entwined with acanthus scrolls and pagoda-sweep pediments, as well as its Grecian palmette-spray, relates to the neo-classical mirror designs of John Linnell (d.1796) cabinet-maker of Berkeley Square dating from around 1770.
