Robert Makepeace II (1765-1827), was the son of Robert Makepeace I, a goldsmith, of 6 Serle Street, Lincoln's Inn, London (circa 1729-1800). He was apprenticed to his father in 1776 and admitted to the Freedom of the London Goldsmith's Company on 2nd April 1778. He was a Liveryman in 1791 and Prime Warden in 1814, as his father had been in 1795. He became a junior partner in his father's firm, Robert Makepeace and Sons, and ran the business with his brother after the retirement of his father in 1794, registering their mark on 18th January of that year. However, his brother Thomas died on 12th September 1794 and Robert then traded on his own account registering his mark on 20th January 1795. Robert died on 16th December 1827.
