8° (157 x 106mm.). Collation: [ã1] ã3-9, A-Q8 (including cancels K4 and L3). One folding plate at end, illustrations. Contemporary vellum. Provenance: Dr. P.A.Créhange (bookplate).

FIRST EDITION. Early issue with variant title and preliminaries. We have been unable to trace another copy of this variant. The edition recorded by Cinti (and Riccardi) was printed by Pierre Rocolet and has 28 unnumbered preliminary pages. This copy has 16: Title (verso blank); [pp.3-11]: Preface, au Lecteur; [pp.12-16]: Table des Matieres. These preliminaries (signature ã) are made up of 4 pairs of conjoined leaves i.e. title is conjugate with ã9; ã3 with ã8; ã4 with ã7; ã5 with ã6. The assertion that this is an early issue is supported by an inserted cutting from a bookseller's catalogue (on the Rocolet issue) which notes that Guénon ceded his rights to this work to Rocolet. Cf. Cinti 104 (variant); cf. Riccardi I.516 (variant).
