Prochazka began his artistic career in Prague in 1902. He travelled extensively throughout Europe but spent most of his time abroad in Paris where he admired the Fauves, the Expressionists and van Gogh. It was Cubism, however, that had the most profound influence on him. Following the example set by Metzinger and Marcoussis, he applied the strictest rules of synthetic cubism to his own works whilst paying acute attention to detail. He is considered one of the most influential Czechoslovakian cubists and his work has been exhibited at numerous shows both in his own country and in France.
