Lot Essay

The black chalk drawings were exhibited in Antwerp in 1989 in A.C. Lens, no. 12, illustrated. Few other albums executed by Lens in Rome were also included in that exhibition. Pierre-François-Célestin François (1759-1851) was Lens' best pupil.
