Millbank, the present site of the Tate Gallery, was a popular spot for artists wishing to paint rural views on, what were then, the outskirts of London.
The present watercolour shows, from left to right: Randall's Mill, Nine Elms, Battersea Old Church, The Red House, Captain Hooper's Horizontal Mill, Old Battersea Bridge and Chelsea Old Church.
