Sale room notice
We are grateful to Kenneth J. Westwood Esq for pointing out that this fine watercolour is another version of an oil painting dating from the same year Evening, Fordwich Meadows, near Canterbury. It includes the same group of animals and is set, as the title suggests, in Kent. It includes another cow in the foreground, a group in a meadow in the middle distance, pollard trees on the bank of the River Stour, and a distant view of Fordwich Church and village.
This watercolour was not exhibited at the Royal Academy as the note suggests.
