As was pointed out by Maria Luisa Ferrari (Il Romanino, 1961, under no. 25), both the attitude of the Christ Child and the handling are close to those of the Madonna and Child with Saints Louis of Toulouse and Roch, formerly in the Kaiser Friedrich Museum, Berlin, datable to the 1520s
