Lot Essay

Designed in the Grecian manner iwth 'Etruscan' ebony-ribbon inlay and sacred-urn finials, they relate to a pattern of a 'Horse Fire Screen' with needlework medallion illustrated by Thomas Sheraton in his Cabinet-Maker's and Upholsterer's Drawing Book, 1794, plate 62. Their reeded supports linked by baluster-turned stretchers relate to that of a 'pembroke table' pattern illustrated by Sheraton in his Cabinet Dictionary, 1803, plate 62.
