A DRESDEN CENTRE-PIECE formed as a young man and a woman wearing striped and flowered 18th Century-style rustic dress, playing hide and seek around a tree moulded with overlapping leaves edged in blue and gilding and applied with garlands of flowers, the upper part with pendent leaves and bunches of fruit supporting a two-handled shaped-oval pierced basket entwined with ribbon and applied with flower-garlands, on a tapering rectangular base similarly festooned with flowers and on four scroll feet (cracks to bowl and ribbon, pieces restuck on pierced part of base, one bunch of fruit lacking and associated chip, chips to applied decoration), imitation blue crossed swords and star mark, circa 1880
