inscribed 'A SWISS SHIELD T.Forshaw' and stamped with the studio stamp on the reverse 'CHARLES TUNNICLIFFE R.A./STUDIO 1980 NO 403/20'; pencil, black chalk and watercolour heightened with white 8¾ x 10½in. (220 x 266mm.)

Specialist note

This comes from the same family as Thurgau Monk. The shield is a colour marking making the bird white all over except for the wings which are coloured. They come in very many colours and markings
