Lot Essay

The parish church of St. Mary in Finchley, originally a village north of Hampstead but now part of Greater London, was built in the 15th Century on the site of a previous 12th Century church; it was considerably enlarged in the 19th Century.

Andrew Wilton, who includes this watercolour in his Addenda, dates it c. 1793-4
