A RARE BRESCIAN SABRE with signed curved single-edged blade double-edged towards the point and with single fuller along the back on each side, struck on one side at the forte with a mark, a crowned M in an oval, steel mameluke hilt with vertically recurved quillons, the tips finely chiselled with scrolls and foliage, long comma-shaped pommel and back-piece engraved with foliage, the former pierced for a sword-knot (missing), and shagreen-covered wooden grip bound with twisted silver wire, in original steel scabbard with suspension rings and engraved on the outside with a trophy of arms and foliage, the reinforce chiselled as a serpent, signed Mra.
