A VIENNESE WHEEL-LOCK SPORTING RIFLE with swamped octagonal sighted barrel signed in gold and inlaid with gold scrollwork at the muzzle and breech, rifled with seven grooves and numbered 1 on the tang, flat lock with enclosed wheel, finely engraved on the plate with the seated figure of Diana with putti in a landscape, and on the cock with a standing figured holding a spear, carved figured walnut full stock (bruised and repaired, fore-end replaced), brass mounts engraved with strapwork and retaining faint traces of gilding, shaped flat side-plate engraved with a pastoral scene in a landscape, set trigger (incomplete), fluted dark horn patch-box cover, and later ramrod, by Joseph Hamerl in Wienn, circa 1730
