AN O-WAKIZASHI, the blade honzukuri and torii-zori, ihorimune and chugissaki, with mokume hada with wild midare hamon, with tobiyaki, hakkakeru boshi, ubu nakago with one mekugi-ana, inscribed Hizen Kuni ju Tadayoshi (possibly made at Kuwana in Ise province), early 17th Century, 20¾in.; with lacquer scabbard simulating cherry bark, iron fittings decorated with cherry blossom including a soritsuno and a kogai adapted as a brass rule to measure up to ten sun, shakudo and gilt menuki depicting Ujibashi and an oval iron tsuba with peonies and karashishi in gilt takazogan and takabori (hilt and saya damaged, kojiri missing)
