Lot Essay

This table with fluted columnar supports and thyrsus-tipped feet relates to a 'Pier-table' pattern in the antique manner with French elliptical corners engraved in 1793 and illustrated in Thomas Sheraton's, Appendix to the Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Drawing Bookd, 1802, pl.4, while the flowered acanthus-scroll features on a sideboard-table pattern, pl.31.
