Lot Essay

A study for the central figure of God the Father in the dome of the Cappella del Tesoro di San Gennaro in the Duomo, Naples, G.-P. Bernini, Giovanni Lanfranco (1582-1647), Parma, 1982, pl. 27. The fresco differs from the present drawing in the slightly modified pose of God the Father and the position of the putti below. Lanfranco took over the project after Domenichino's death in 1641 and it was completed by the end of 1643
