A preparatory study for the figure of Faith in the central compartment of Jupiter accompanied by Justice and Faith in the Salle des Gardes de la Reine in the State Apartments at Versailles. Noël Coypel was responsible for all the painted decoration of the room which, according to André Félibien (1619-1695), exemplified 'two of Justice's most memorable actions and two of Faith's most reknowned deeds'.
