Lot Essay

Jean-François Bautte (1772-1837), became a partner with his patron Jaques Dauphin Mouliné from 1793. In 1808 the company was known as Moulinié, Baute et Moynier , but by 1831 Bautte was the only remaining name in this most distinguished firm of Geneva gold box makers.
