(About 60 of the plates with some spotting or browning, very light in the main, but heavier in about six cases.) Contemporary red half morocco (extremities very slightly rubbed). Provenance: G.Bontemps (armorial bookplate).
'A SUPERB WORK, one of the finest of all collections of flower prints, showing to full advantage the brilliancy of colour printing' (Dunthorne), who goes on to admire particularly the Camelia and the fruit plates. The text (an alphabetic listing and explanation of the plates) was added in 1833, because a number of the plates were incorrectly captioned. Nissen 1591; Great Flower Books p.72; Dunthorne 235.
