A RARE GERMAN COMBINATION GUNNER'S DAGGER, DIVIDERS, CLINOMETER AND GAUGE, forged in two halves, dividing longitudinally, and hinged together at the pommel, each half of the blade forming a narrow gunner's rule engraved with scales, marked respectively 'Zol', 'Stein', 'Eisen', with chamfered cutting edges towards the triangular point, the hilt with short straight moulded quillons with spherical terminals each pierced with a small circular hole forming pairs of sights, slender oval side-ring with double central moulding and two internal scrolls, ovoidal pommel with pierced prominent button and baluster-shaped grip, decorated throughout with traces of gold and silver counterfeit-damasceneing, the grip recessed internally for a plum-bob, the two halves joined by hinged engraved brass bars forming a clinometer scale divided 1 to 12 subdivided in tenths, mid-16th Century, possibly Brunswick
