The celebrated antiquarian Sir Samuel Rush Meyrick furnished a series of rooms on the upper floors of Goodrich in the styles of several English monarchs and, as Clive Wainwright has pointed out in The Romantic Interior, York, 1989, p.262, this imaginative and unique approach served as the precursor for period room settings in 20th Century museums
