Lot Essay

A closely related console table in the Palazzo Colonna, Rome, with twin crouching blackamoors resting upon a naturalistic rocky base is illustrated in G. Lizzani, Il Mobile Romano, Milan 1970, pl.112. It is interesting to note that the offered lot also shares the waved, moulded plinth with the Palazzo Colonna Console table
