Note:
O'Brien's campaign was very similar to that of Captain Cramer, including the advance to and relief of Eshowe, Crealock's advance to Port Durnford and the second advance on Ulundi. When Colonel W.L. Pemberton, C.B., was appointed to command the second Brigade of the Column, the command of the battalion devolved on major Arthur Tufnell and Captains Cramer and O'Brien performed the duties of Major.
