Note:
Dalrymple had served in the Ashanti War where he had been mentioned in despatches and received the Brevet of Major. In the Zulu War he held an appointment on Lord Chelmsford's personal staff. He was Brigade-Major to Glyn's Column and was present at the battle of Ulundi.
