JAMES I (King of England, 1603-1625). FINE INITIAL LETTER PORTRAIT OF THE KING ON ILLUMINATED ROYAL LETTERS PATENT granting to Robert Honeywood the manor of Markshall in Essex, Westminster, 9 July 1616.

MANUSCRIPT ON VELLUM, one membrane, 510 x 690 mm., in Latin, 44 lines written in brown ink in a Chancery hand, the portrait (approximately 180 x 150 mm.) in brown ink and grey wash, depicting the King enthroned (half-length) within a strap-work initial letter 'J', the first line in engrossed majuscules, the upper margin illuminated with heraldic beasts, flowers and emblems in brown ink and grey wash (the document attached to a card mount by small tacks in outer margin), with a good impression of the Great Seal in brown wax (55 mm. diameter, slightly rubbed) pendant from cords.

ELIZABETH I (Queen of England, 1558-1603). Document. Letters Patent granting a licence of alienation from Richard Williamson to John Elwood, for property at Worlaby, Westminster, 2 December 1596, in Latin, manuscript in brown ink on vellum, 150 x 380 mm., with a large fragment (approximately two thirds) of an impression of the second Great Seal of Queen Elizabeth (after Hilliard), in brown wax (worn) pendant from a vellum tag.

HENRY VIII (King of England, 1509-1547). Document. Letters Patent confirming a grant of land to Thomas Willoughby, Westminster, 9 October 1542, in Latin, manuscript in brown ink on vellum, 230 x 440 mm., with a fragment of an impression of the Great Seal in brown wax (worn), pendant from a vellum tag.
