NAPOLEON I. Three letters signed ('Nap' and in one, 'Napol') addressed to General Clarke, the first Valladolid, 14 January 1809, reporting that the inhabitants of Turin are complaining at having a powder magazine in a district of the city. 'Ne pourrait on pas placer ce poudre à Fenestrelles ou à Alexandrie?', ½ page, 4°; the second, Paris, 11 April 1809, ordering that regiments with battalions in Germany must no longer supply the army of Germany from their depots in Piedmont, and whatever they have must go to equip the 5th battalion and the garrisons at Turin and Alexandria, one page, 4° (5 words cancelled in ink); the third, to Clarke as Duke of Feltre, Paris, 14 December 1810, approving the re-distribution of gun-powder in Italy, 'J'approuve que l'on tire de Gênes 150,000 Kilogrammes de poudre pour approvisionner Toulon et 50,000 de Livourne, ce qui fera 200,000 Kilogrammes qui approvisionneront Toulon', one page, 4°, contemporary annotation attached to lower portion of leaf.
