4° (196 x 139mm). Roman type, a few Greek words on final leaf, opening 4-line initial in red, one paragraph mark in red, with final blank. (Small stains in one leaf, light dampstain in final 3 leaves.) Later glazed cream paper boards, gilt edges (corners bumped). Provenance: a few contemporary marginal annotations; Robert, Marquess of Crewe (bookplate).
FIRST EDITION of a work dealing with the relationship between witches and demons. Its author, Martin Plantsch, was one of the first students to matriculate at the newly established university at Tübingen, and he became one of its important early figures; the Martinihaus, a student house he founded at the university, survives. The corrector, Johann Hildebrandt (d.1513), was a noted scholar at Pforzheim (later at Tübingen), who counted Melanchthon among his students. Adams P-1399; VD-16, P-3201.
