Provenance
Merz, an offshoot of the Dada movement, was established by Kurt Schwitters in 1919 with an exhibition in the Sturm Gallery in Berlin. From 1923-32 Schwitters produced intermittent reviews with contributions from Arp, Mondrian, El Lissitzky and others. His awareness of and interest in the Constructivist principles prevalent at the time can be seen in the design and typography he composed for the cover and title of 7 Arpeden
