As Philip Pouncey first pointed out, this is a study for Pozzo's fresco in the Cappella Sistina of Santa Maria Maggiore, Rome, datable after 1585. The artist was a pupil of Raffaelino da Reggio. The project for the Cappella Sistina was the most extensive of his brief career
